Workshop Summary:
For the fourth and final community workshop, community members continued to shape a
shared vision for how the biodigester project can contribute to a localized circular and
regenerative economy. After providing the introduction and overview on circular economies
and the biodigester, as was done in previous workshops, the JC3 team presented the findings
and outcomes from each of the 3 previous workshops.
The JC3 team then presented the outcomes from Workshop #3, including the most preferred
shuttle route option, the cumulative lighting and charging hub locations as marked by community
members in workshop #3, and ultimately a cohesive Concept Plan informed by this information.
Who Attended:
Duwamish Valley Sustainability Association, South Park Community Members,
JC3 Members: Sarah Maness, Catherine De Almeida
Workshop Prompts:
Do you have any final ideas and recommendations for the concept plan?
Drawing Exercise: How do you see the biodigester benefiting you and your community?
Mentimeter Reflection:
What did you learn from this experience?
What are you excited about for the future of this project?
What’s one word describing how you’re feeling coming out of this experience?
Activity 1:
Each group spent 20 minutes reviewing the draft maps. Participants used sticky notes, markers, and
drawings to share feedback on shuttle routes, lighting and e-fleet hub locations. Key feedback from
each group was then shared aloud by those that wished to do so.

Activity 2:
Each group then spent 20 minutes creatively drawing their ideas about how the biodigester could
benefit themselves and their community. Their reflections were rich in imagination and grounded in
insight into the systems we have reviewed in the past four workshops. Key feedback and concepts
were highlighted in another verbal share-out of each of the group illustrations.
Activity 3:
In a final interactive session, participants used Mentimeter to respond to prompts via their phones.
They were asked:
What did you learn from this experience?
What excites you about the future of this project?
What is one word to describe how you are feeling after this experience?

Outcomes and Next Steps:
Learning from the community’s priorities and concerns, and facilitating a 4-stage series of engagement
workshops that invited community members into the design process, led to a Concept Plan for South Park
that offers a neighborhood-scale vision for a micro-mobility network. This network supports a local shuttle,
e-fleet hubs, and lighting improvements that can all be powered and catalyzed by the biodigester. In order
to achieve this community-led, neighborhood-wide vision, it is important to understand the technical aspects
and spatial requirements of the biodigester and the broader environmental, social, and economic benefits it
can have on the community.
