WHEN

November 14th @ 5:30pm - 7:30pm

WHERE

Duwamish River Community Hub
8600 14th Ave S, Seattle, WA 98108

The Duwamish Valley Sustainability Association is in the middle of installing and commissioning a biodigester (Phase 4) installed at Food Lifeline, for which the inauguration was on October 11th.

In order for this project to be economically sustainable over time, it must be scaled up in capacity in order to be able to produce biogas. To do this, they are currently in Phase 5, where they are working with professionals from the University of Washington, Seattle Park Foundation and Eco-Northwest to evaluate the economic and social impact that biogas production entails. As a starting point, they will evaluate the following alternatives for the development of sustainable community infrastructure (not limited):

  1. Incentivize the use of public transportation.
  2. Promote the development of sustainable transportation (e-bikes and e-scooters).
  3. Economic development of the place. For example: Food trucks and/or food carts, maintenance of e-bikes, etc.
  4. Promote the development of a circular food system.
  5. Generation of electric energy.
  6. Development of a training center in sustainability and green jobs.

The first community meeting will be on November 14th, and DVSA is inviting community members and professionals to support the South Park community in selecting what the priorities would be in the use of biogas.
