Charge South Park imagines the creation of a waste-to-energy economy in South Park. The initial pilot scope is based on the conversion of food waste to energy (primarily through biogas).
The project transforms the pilot Food Lifeline site into an ntegrated public space that provides educational and flexible activation opportunities. Urban design strategies used on the site spread out into South Park, forming a network of interconnected community-owned infrastructure assets that tie the site to the neighborhood. In its final phase, the project envisions “charging” various production chains, creating a valuable new waste-to-resource economy that provides jobs, and reinvests value generated from circular systems.
Charge South Park envisions a community that can reclaim sovereignty through circularity, and invest in key mobility infrastructures, community resilience, and public space.
